It looks like Dan Rather is going to be able to use 86 year-old former TANG secretary Marian Knox (who says she did
not type the memos in question) to support his position that the picture painted by those memos and other information is correct and at least requires an answer by the Whitehouse. Ms. Knox will say:
I know that I didn't type them however, the information in those is correct.
She will then go into detail about how her boss felt when Bush refused his order regarding the physical
First of all Killian was very friendly with Bush they had fun together. And I think it upset him very much that he was being defied.
It seems to me that this is dynamite. If you have a witness like this that remembers the incident described to in the questioned memo then it does not seem to mater that much anymore whether the memo can be proven authentic. If fact even if it is proven to be a forgery, but only after it serves serves the purpose of bringing up other proof of what it says, then the mystery of the forgery becomes a side show to the main event which is the fact that Bush's CO didn't just let him walk away from flying but ordered him to take his flight physical and Bush refused.
This then opens the question of why the early demand for a quick physical and why did Bush refuse, and also of course how did Bush get away with this.
You can read this much on Matt Drudge based on the CBS news. But there should be a lot more on 60 Min. at 8 eastern.
